Fran Drescher Gets 'Happily Divorced'

Fran Drescher Gets 'Happily Divorced'

It's been years since The Nanny went off the air, and we've barely had our dose of Fran Drescher. Luckily, she decided to star in another sitcom premiering later this year. Joining her in creating the upcoming series, Happily Divorced, is her ex-husband Peter Marc Jacobson, who also worked with the actress on the show that catapulted her to small screen fame.

On Happily Divorced, Fran Drescher stars as Fran (what else?), a Los Angeles florist who finds out that her husband of 18 years is gay. She's decided to re-enter the dating realm since then, but it's going to be tough juggling relationships when you're still living under one roof.

John Michael Higgins plays Fran's realtor husband, Peter. Happily Divorced has also booked stars such as Rita Moreno, Robert Walden, Tichina Arnold, D.W. Moffett and Valente Rodriguez. The series is set to premiere this June on TV Land.

You can check out the trailer for Happily Divorced on the show's official website. The comedy is actually based on Drescher and Jacobson's real-life experiences, having remained friends after ending their own marriage in 1999. He came out to her afterwards, and the actress revealed the news in 2010.

Seeing as how they're both happily working on Happily Divorced, the two remain friends. They've developed the series since the divorce, and it was picked up by TV Land with a ten-episode order. Drescher was only slated to write and produce the series at first, but she thankfully consented to being the star of the show.

Before she hopped on the project, Drescher briefly had her own daytime talk show called The Fran Drescher Tawk Show. She also teamed up with Rosie O'Donnell for the sitcom The New Thirty, which was unfortunately shelved. Now that she's returning to television with Happily Divorced, don't miss the series as it premieres on June 15 on TV Land
